When you purchase software from LMS you receive
a license code either via e-mail or on a label
attached to the CD case. To continue use
of the software after the trial period you must
enter the license code within the software and
then activate the software. This FAQ addresses
questions about the activation process.
What is product activation and how does it
work?
Product
activation is a process that combines
your license code with unique characteristics
of the hardware on your computer to generate
an activation code. This code enables
you to run the software on a particular
computer and only that computer.
How
does product activation work?
When
you start your software you are given
the option of activating the software
or continuing to use it in trial mode.
If you choose to activate the software
you are required to enter the license
code you received when you purchased the
product. You may then choose to
activate the software online or via e-mail.
Online activation is a process that occurs
automatically in a few seconds but requires
that you be connected to the Internet.
E-mail activation generates a message
that is sent to LMS. A return e-mail
will be sent to you containing the activation
code which you must then enter manually
into the software.
Why
is activation required?
Activation
is required to prevent illegal copying
of software and its distribution to unlicensed
users. It ensures that LMS gets
compensated for its effort in producing
the software and can provide our loyal
customers with the best services possible.
What
happens if I don't activate my software?
If
you do not activate you software by the
time your trial period expires it will
cease to function and you will not be
able to access any of the data you created
with the software. You can re-enable
the software by purchasing a license code
from our
online store and activating the product.
Can
I activate the software on more than one computer?
Your
license gives you the right to activate
the software on a secondary computer at
home or on a laptop. Please see

FAQ for more details.
Can
the activation code be used on more than one
computer?
The
activation code is unique for each computer
and will not work on any computer except
the one on which the activation process
was executed.
Is
any personally identifiable information sent
during the activation process?
The
activation process does not gather any
personally identifiable information about
you or your use of the software.
What
happens if I have to replace my hard drive
or if I get a new computer?
If
you are changing computers or your hard
drive.
Perform a complete backup of all of
you KnowledgeWorkshop data and save
it on media that can be removed from
the computer.
Uninstall the software from the old
computer.
Install the software on your new computer
or drive. You will be able to
use it for 15 days without activation.
Import your backup to restore your
data.
